SoHi cagers take First City Shootout

After surviving a scare against Craig in Friday's sems th Soldotna High School boys basketball team rebounded with a 57-32 win over host Ketchikan at the First City Prep Shootout.

Sean Kelley led the way for the Stars with 17 points, including a 10-for-10 effort from the free throw line in the second half.

Nick Christensen netted 15 points and Aaron Hughes for the Stars.

Soldotna led 20-16 at the half and expanded the margin to 33-26 by the end of the third quarter. The Stars outscored the Kings 24-6 in the final period, missing just three of their 21 foul shots during that stretch.

Soldotna rallied from a 32-28 halftime deficit to edge Craig 79-77 in Friday's game. Christensen scored 16 points for the Stars, Kelley and Aaron Hughes each scored 15, Mike Metteer ntted 11 points and Adam Kiffmeyer scored 10 points for the Stars.

The Knights picked up a Region III/4A victory Friday in Homer.

Kelly Quinn led all scorers with 17 points, while Sam Gatto added 14 for the Knights. Sara Brooks led Homer with 15 points.

The Moose completed a Region III/4A sweep on their trip to the peninsula Saturday in Homer. Palmer had defeated Skyview Friday.

PALMER BOYS 74, HOMER 67

The Moose used a big fourth quarter to come back and earn a Region III/4A victory Saturday.

Palmer started the fourth quarter down 50-44, but outscored Homer 30-17 in the final frame to claim victory. Zac Forsyth had 15 of his game-high 36 points in the fourth quarter to spark the Moose.

Corey Boone paced Homer with 20 points.

Laura Griffen scored 12 points to lea the Lynx while Erin Carr netted 16 points to lead the Seahawks.
