Light earthquake hits near Sand Point

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A light earthquake struck the Alaska Peninsula area Monday morning.

The Alaska Earthquake Information Center said the quake occurred at 10:18 a.m. and had a preliminary magnitude of 4.4. It was centered 62 miles southwest of Sand Point and was about six miles deep.

There were no immediate reports of injury or damage, or reports that the earthquake was felt, according to the earthquake information center.
