Guantanamo Bay soldier has Soldotna ties

Lt. Col. Bill Costello, right, of Jersey City, N.J., visits with U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld during the politician's visit to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Costello is stationed in Guantanamo Bay as the director of the Joint Information Bureau Joint Task Force 160, providing media information on Project Enduring Freedom. Costello is the husband of Crystal (Crane) Costello, who graduated from Soldotna High School in 1989, the son-in-law of David Crane of Soldotna and the brother-in-law of Lesley Quelland of Soldotna. Bill and Crystal live in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with their children John, 4, Clara, 4, and Will, 1.
