Soldotna resident Betty-Gay Marie Poe died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna. She was 73.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Sterling Baptist Church. Mrs. Poe's family will preside at the service.
Mrs. Poe was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Austin, Minn. She graduated from high school and attended Palm Beach Junior College, Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music, Miami Bible College and Resurrection Christian College.
She moved to Alaska in 1966, residing in Glennallen, Kasilof, Cooper Landing and Sterling. She left Alaska in 1989 and returned in 1999, living in Soldotna.
She was a missionary.
Mrs. Poe was preceded in death by a sister, JoAnne Dickman.
She is survived by her husband, Joel Poe; daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Paul McCarty and Cindi and Perry Banse; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Suzanne Vali; five grandchildren, Aprelle McCarty, Alysen Montague, Joel David Banse, Jill Suzanne Banse and Jonathan Horning; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Barret Brimacomb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Funny River Bible Church, P.O. Box 158, Soldotna, AK 99669, to help finish the church.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
