February is Love of Reading Month. Students and staff will participate in a reading challenge, door decorating and other activities to promote the love of reading.

Today is the last day to send a valentine candygram to a special student or teacher. Candy grams are 50 cents during lunch today and will be delivered Thursday. Proceeds will be used by Mrs. St. Onge's second-graders for their end-of-year field trip.

The site council meets at 3:45 p.m. today in the school conference room.

Student council is sponsoring Wacky Day on Wednesday. Students and staff may wear their favorite wacky clothing and hats.

School photos will be taken Thursday on a preview basis. Students do not need to bring money for individual photos. Students should bring their order form and payment for class photos and pennants on picture day.

Parent conferences and the book fair will take place Friday and Monday. Parents are asked to contact their child's teacher if they do not have a conference scheduled.

Local businesses can support the school by sponsoring a page in the school yearbook for a suggested donation of $20. Relatives and friends can dedicate a personal message to a special student or teacher for $10. For more information, call Ms. Haddix .

Students in grades three through six will take the Terra Nova and Benchmark assessment exams Tuesday through Feb. 20. Students are encouraged to get plenty of sleep and eat breakfast.

The staff congratulates the intramural volleyball champions: girls' team, The Pink Flamingos, and boys' team, The Spiking Chimps.

Sign-ups for intramural basketball are taking place. Games will begin in two weeks.

"Guess the staff" winners are Manessah Osborne for correctly guessing Mr. Syverson, and Lauren Steffy for correctly guessing Ms. Walker.

Redoubt is offering a $500 scholarship to area graduating high school seniors. Complete information may be obtained at the Soldotna or Skyview high school counselors' offices and at the Redoubt Elementary office beginning Tuesday.
