Parent-teacher conferences will be Friday and Monday. Parents are asked to contact their student's teacher if they have not been notified about a conference time.
Classes will have valentines parties Thursday. Teachers have planned the activity for the last hour of the day with healthy foods being requested.
The staff thanks Debbie Bass for coming to Mrs. Martin's kindergarten class Friday to read. Anyone wishing to read with the children can call Mrs. Eastham at 262-4944.
All classes are holding special activities during Love of Reading month. The reading challenge continues until Thursday. Parents are encouraged to ask their student how much of their reading passport has been filled and how many points they have accumulated.
Ms. Dierick's class is learning about geometry with toothpicks and investigating box sizes. The students would like to thank Jacob's mom, Sandra Bullock, for the huge container of cheese balls.
Analytic Writing Assessments for students were completed last week.
Students now are learning about famous American presidents and black Americans and using the four-square method to write a paragraph or story. Mr. Shapley's class is getting ready for the Terra Nova standardized testing. These tests will be administered to fourth- and fifth-graders Tuesday though Feb. 27. Parents are encouraged to make sure their child gets a good night's sleep and a good breakfast.
On Tuesday, Miss Wimmer's fifth-graders went to the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge for its winter studies field trip.
