The Homer girls basketball team survived a tough night at the free-throw line Tuesday in picking up a Region III/4A victory over visiting Skyview.
The Panthers, who had three players foul out, held a 31-30 lead entering the final period of play. Homer came back to win the game despite going 6-of-22 from the foul line in the final period. The Mariners were 14-of-41 from the charity stripe in the game.
Homer was able to win the game in the fourth quarter due to defense. The Mariners held the Panthers without a field goal in the final eight minutes, with Skyview's lone points coming on 5-of-8 shooting from the foul line.
Chantrelle Cousins, fresh off an MVP performance at the Bethel Invitational, had 15 points to pace Homer. Lindsay Gephardt led Skyview with 13 points.

The visiting Panthers edged the Mariners Tuesday in Region III/4A action. Ryan Geller poured in a game-high 20 points to lead Skyview, while Luke Gilbert had 17 points and Jeremy Kuipers added 12 for the Homer.

The host Archangels overcame a 10-6 deficit after the first quarter to pull out the District 3/2A victory Tuesday. Adam Brauner paced Lumen Christi with 14 points, while Noah Brauner had 12 points and Jonas Musgrave added 10 points.
