The roles of Skyview and Soldotna High School are expected to change starting next year.
The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Board of Education is slated to discuss how the two buildings will "share learning opportunities for Soldotna area high school students" and form a "more dependent relationship."
While both high schools have seen declines in enrollment in the past few years, Skyview has only 359 students this year compared to 527 five years ago.
Soldotna High's enrollment has been relatively static, bouncing between 526 and 565 in recent years, but is projected to decline to less than 500 within two years.
According to the district administration, if enrollment at either school drops too low it could affect the services that are offered.
The board will discuss the issue during its work session at 3:30 p.m. on Monday in the Borough Administration Building's Assembly Chambers prior to the 7 p.m. board meeting.
