Skyview High School will host a community open house to raise funds for the Haiti relief efforts from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the school. Dancing, music, silent auction and games are some of the planned activities. A "dive in" showing of the movie "Finding Nemo" also is planned from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Participants will be able to swim while watching the movie. Limited space is available and is on first-come first-served basis.
Suggested donations are $6 for adults, $4 for youth ages 5-15 years old and children ages 4 years old and younger are admitted in for free. Money will go to the Haiti relief efforts through the American Red Cross. Call 260-2300, for more information.
The Soldotna High School Student Council is collecting gently used homecoming, prom, and bridesmaid dresses/shoes/accessories for Cinderella's Closet 2010.

The Kenai Resilience will host a local foods discussion and potluck Friday, at the Donald E. Gilman Center (formerly Kenai River Center) to celebrate existing food projects, share information, and encourage community action around local food issues. A finger food potluck will be held from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Facilitated discussion will follow from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Nikiski High School Wrestling team will have an ice fishing tournament at Island Lake, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $15 for ages 15 and under and $20 for youth ages 16 and over.
There will be prizes awarded for first, second and third places in both groups, including a Power Ice Auger, Quick Flip three Ice Shacks, Hi Tech Bucket Fishing Package and Ice Fishing Rod Combos.

The 30th annual AFS gourmet dinner fundraiser will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Catholic Church in Kenai. Tickets are available at River City Books and from AFS members. The cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children 14 years old and under. This is a fundraiser for Kenai Peninsula students wishing to go abroad on a student exchange with the AFS program and for families hosting AFS students here.
