FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A Delta Junction man has been charged with sexually abusing a 6-year-old girl.

Daniel J. Jensen, 34, was arrested on the basis of a December Alaska State Trooper interview after the girl had been brought to a doctor with a medical condition that may have been the result of sexual contact.

According to troopers, the girl said the man had molested her beginning in January 1999.

The man told troopers he wanted to instruct the girl about sensuality, physical love and ''life,'' according to charging documents.

Jensen was arraigned Wednesday in Superior Court on two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor and two counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor. He is being held on $50,000 bail.

Jensen's criminal history includes alcohol-related offenses as well as a 1993 escape conviction, according to troopers.
