Students named to honor lists

Noah Johnson of Kenai has been named to the dean's list at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo. A student must attain a 3.4 grade point average or higher to be on the list.

Elisabeth Schirmers of Soldotna was named to the dean's list at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. A student must attain a 3.7 grade point average to be on the list. Her parents are Bruce and Linda Schirmers.

Michele Lamb, a 2000 Soldotna High School graduate, was named to the dean's list at Linfield College in McMinnville, Ore. Her parents are Gary and Tammi Lamb of Sterling.

The following were named to the dean's or chancellor's list at University of Alaska Fairbanks. Honor students receiving all As or a 4.0 grade point average are placed on the chancellor's list, while those receiving between 3.5 and 3.99 grade point averages are named to the dean's list.

Jessica M. Carter,of Kenai was named to the dean's list.

Gage W. Choat of Kenai was named to the dean's list.

Ethan Ford of Kenai was named to the chancellor's list.

Cody R. McLane of Kenai was named to the dean's list.

Prapat Nujoy of Kenai was named to the dean's list.

Micki E. Kobyulk of Sterling was named to the chancellor's list.

Larissa K. Renney of Sterling was named to the chancellor's list.

Melinda S. Lyons of Sterling was named to the dean's list.

Former resident on mission in South America

Chantel Bixby, a former Soldotna resident, recently left for a 12-day mission trip to Trinidad, an island off the coast of South America. She is the daughter of Bill Bixby of Soldotna. She currently lives in Denver.

 

Two nominated to academies

Robert Q. Bird, son of Robert and Rosemary Bird of Kenai, and William E. Moiles, son of Gary and Lora Moiles of Soldotna, have received service academy nominations from Sens. Ted Stevens and Frank Murkowski.

Bird was nominated by both to the U.S. Naval Academy. Moiles was nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy by Murkowski and to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point by Stevens.

Graduating seniors with ambitions of attending the U.S. Naval Academy, the Merchant Marine Academy, the Air Force Academy and the Military Academy at West Point must be nominated by a member of Congress from their state.
