Former Soldotna resident Bryan DeTienne Staton died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002. He was 21.

Interment was Monday at Evans Cemetery in Evans, Colo. A memorial service will be held Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Cook Inlet Academy in Soldotna.

Mr. Staton was born May 23, 1980, in Oklahoma City to Michael and Deborah (DeTienne) Staton.

He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and Fun Lovers of America. He was a licensed hunting guide, an all-state basketball player and member of Cook Inlet Academy's 1999 class 2A state championship basketball team. He was an avid hunter, fisher, hiker, skier and snowboarder who loved the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Doris DeTienne.

He is survived by his parents, Michael and Deborah Staton of Monte Vista, Colo.; fiancee, Kristen Zimmerman of Soldotna; brothers Stephen Douglas Staton and Austin Miles Staton of Monte Vista; grandfather, Loren DeTienne of Greely, Colo.; grandparents, Robert and Sue Staton of Arkansas; and many friends.

Memorial donations may be made to Cook Inlet Academy.

Arrangements were made by Strohmayer's Funeral Home in Monte Vista.
