Kenai boys lose to Heritage in overtime

Posted: Sunday, February 13, 2005

Heritage Christian, the top-ranked team in Class 3A, defeated host Kenai Central 66-56 Saturday in overtime in nonconference action.

The Eagles overcame a 22-of-39 performance from the foul line in the victory. In the end, the fouls did hurt the Kardinals as Ryann Hansen, Brandon Miles, Austin McLeod and Jordan Jenckes all fouled out and left the Kardinals without much firepower in overtime.

The Kardinals had a chance to win the game in regulation, but Kenai could not score after calling a play with eight seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Lonnie Ridgeway, a 6-foot-3 junior guard, paced all scorers with 26 points, while Thomas Millar added 13 points for Heritage. Kevin Epperheimer led Kenai with 19 points, while Jenckes chipped in 13.
