Women voters meet

The Central Peninsula League of Women Voters will hold its monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the home of Lois Pillifant. It is open to the public. For more information or directions, call 260-3111.

Women invited to take a break

Peninsula Take-a- Break will host a February luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Solid Rock Conference Center at Mile 90.5 of the Sterling Highway. Featured speakers will be Kathy Moore with the Arctic Winter Games and Donna Embree from Palmer. Music will be provided by Tina Schneider. The cost is $8. Free childcare will be provided. Fish and Game to hold elections

The Kenai-Soldotna Fish and Game Advisory Committee will meet Wednesday at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road. The topics will be election of the subsistence seat and an update on the Board of Game proposals. For more information and time of meeting, call Gary Dawkins at 262-3993.

Foster care, adoption workshop slated

An informational meeting about foster care and adoption will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at 145 Main St. Loop in Kenai. The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, Office of Children’s Services, offers the monthly Resource Family Orientations to give interested individuals a brief overview of the state’s foster care and adoption programs and process. Dinner fundraiser set

The Sterling Senior Center will host a South Pacific dinner fundraiser at 6 p.m. Saturday at the center. Dinner will feature roast pork and pineapple upside-down cake for dessert. Junior Miss application deadline looms

The deadline for the applications for the Alaska Junior Miss program is Saturday. The program will be held in Eagle River March 31 through April 1. Applications are available at The state chair can be e-mailed at for more information.

Frontier community to host open house

Frontier Community Service will host an open house to celebrate its new agency-based personal care attendant program from noon to 5 p.m. Feb. 21 at 43335 Kalifornsky Beach Road, Suite 36 in the Red Diamond Center.

Frontier Community Services is a nonprofit organization that seeks to provide quality, individualized home and community-based services for people of all ages who are at risk of, or experiencing, a disabling condition, as well as promoting community awareness and understanding. Clothing donations sought

College Heights Baptist Church is accepting donations of clothing, appliances, household furniture and other household items for those who have lost their belongs due to the recent fires. Items may be dropped off from 8 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the church at 512 Ash Ave. in Kenai, or call 283-0712 or 283-3220 for pick-up of larger items.
