Portland, Ore., resident Carla McComas died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, in Portland. She was 66.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 17, at Carpenter's Hall, 407 Denali St. in Anchorage.
Mrs. McComas was born Dec. 8, 1941, in Portland, to Mary Geraldine and Royal Guy Halliday. She graduated from Polytechnic High School in Portland in 1959.
She was a active member of the Comets Bowling League, Happy Timers Bowling League, KUPL Bowling League and the 35-plus Singles Club.
"Carla moved to Alaska in 1970. She worked as a bookkeeper for and retired from Carrs Gottstein in 1999. She met the love of her life, Kenneth McComas, in 1986 and they married Jan. 1, 1994, in Anchorage. They moved back to Portland in 1999 with the hope of touring the United States in their motorhome. After her husband's death, Carla settled down in Portland to be with her niece whom she lived with until her death," her family said.
Mrs. McComas was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Donna Lockett.
She is survived by her stepdaughters, Krissy Mahan, and her husband, Jeff, of Sterling and Julie Montgomery and Shauna McComas; stepson, Robert McComas; grandchildren, Dustyn, Shannon, Keny, Meghan, Tanner, Marissa, Nicholas, Ciarra, Steven, McKenzie, Serena and Brandon; nieces, Lynn, Rhonda and Shelby Talent; and nephews, Brad and Brian Talent.
Arrangements were made by Autumn Funerals and Cremations Inc., in Portland.
