February After Hours planned

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will hold February After Hours at the Central Peninsula General Hospital today, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tours of the new MRI unit will be available, as well as door prizes, food and drinks. For more information, call Kim at 262-9814.

The event is open to the public.

Chamber to feature Iron Dog presentation

The Greater Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will hold a weekly luncheon today at the Riverside House at noon. Guest speakers are Scott Davis and Mark Carr, presenting on the Iron Dog Snowmobile Race. For more information, call Kim at 262-9814.

Chamber meeting planned

The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will hold a weekly luncheon on Thursday at the Lighthouse at noon. Guest speaker is Heather Arnett of the Women's Resource and Crisis Center. The public is invited.

Community club to meet

The Sterling Community Club will meet Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Log Cabin next to Sterling Elementary School. The public is invited.

Mayor Bagley to speak at membership meeting

The Kenai Peninsula Association of Realtors will hold its monthly membership meeting at noon Friday at the Riverside House in Soldotna. Mayor Dale Bagley will be the guest speaker. A buffet lunch will be served. Call 262-1851 for more information.

Board of Directors meeting scheduled

Bridges Community Resource Network Inc. will hold its Annual Meeting and Election of the Board of Directors on Saturday at 10 a.m. at 145 Kasilof Avenue, in Soldotna.

The meeting is open to the public.

Vocal Performance planned

Kenai Peninsula Orchestra presents Vocalist Judy Russell with Accompanist Geri Bigham on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the residence of Chuck and Betty Orbendorf.

4-H to host Rally Day

The Kenai Peninsula 4-H Council will host the 2000 4-H Rally Day,

Monday, at 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Soldotna Church of God.

Youths from first to twelfth grade and adults are invited to participate in classes designed to develop leadership, citizenship, interpersonal and work force skills.

The cost is $3.00 per person or $5.00 per family. Craft classes have a small supply fee. Preregistration is available by calling the Alaska Cooperative Extension Office at 262-5824. Registration forms are available at Kasilof Mercantile and the Extension Office at 43961 K-Beach Road.

Professor to speak at KPC

Dr. Ricardo Garcia professor from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will be the guest speaker at Phi Delta Kappa's meeting Thursday in the Cobblestone Court at Kenai Peninsula College. He will discuss "Building Community in the Classroom and School Civility."

Social hour and appetizers start at 5:30 p.m. and new member initiation at 6 p.m. Dr. Garcia's presentation will begin at 6:30.

Dr. Garcia will also present an interactive lecture, "The Art and Practice of Hispanic Storytelling," at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the College Commons.

The presentation is open to the public.

AARP meeting planned

An American Association of Retired Persons Meeting will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Soldotna Senior Center.

AARP tax help provided

AARP will provide tax preparation help in Soldotna on the following days.

Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Soldotna Senior Center.

Feb. 22 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Soldotna Library.

Feb. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kenai Peninsula College.
