Fishing cooperative lecture planned

Cook Inlet Salmon Brand Inc. will sponsor a lecture on how to set up a fishing cooperative at 2 p.m. today at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Building. Joe Sullivan, expert on fishing cooperatives, will talk about how to set up a cooperative and the benefits of operating a fishing cooperative for sales and marketing of salmon. There is no fee. The public is invited to attend.

Reception for T-200 volunteers set

The Tustumena 200 Sled Dog Race will hold a volunteer appreciation reception at 3 p.m. today at the Tustumena Lodge in Kasilof. The public is invited to attend.

Peace vigil planned

Alaskans for Peace will sponsor a candlelight vigil at 6:30 p.m. today at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road to commemorate the first anniversary of the largest protest for peace in history. For more information, call Ann at 283-5950.

Swim coaches needed

The Special Olympics is seeking swim coaches immediately. Coaches must have knowledge of all swim strokes and water safety. For more information, call 260-3364.

Health center plans board meeting

Road service subcommittee to meet

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Road Service Subcommittee will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the conference room in the borough maintenance building at 47140 E. Poppy Lane. The topics of discussion are the proposed fiscal year 2005 budget, proposed fiscal year 2005 capital improvement projects and policy development for paving borough collector roads. The public is invited to attend. Public comment will not be taken.

Kenai River advisory board meeting slated

The Kenai River Special Management Area Advisory Board will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road. Topics of discussion will include the Kenai River Sportfishing Association, Kenai River guide restrictions, Kenai River user fees and other committee updates.

SoHi selling discount cards

Soldotna High School, in cooperation with 82 area businesses, is selling discount "Star Bucks" cards to raise funds for its athletic department. The cards will offer modest discounts at area stores. Discounts for apparel, beauty and hair care, car care, crafts, hobbies, flowers, candy, foods and home improvements are included. The cost is $25 each. For more information, call 262-7411.
