The Homer High School Hockey team bumped Nikiski from the Greatland Conference Tournament, sticking the Bulldogs with a 5-4 overtime loss at Brett Memorial Ice Arena in Wasilla Friday.

Saturday, Homer won fourth place in the tournament with a 5-1 victory over Tri-Valley.

In Friday's game, Justin Adams scored the game winner for the Mariners, assisted by Alex Trieweiler, as Homer was able to capitalize on a power play 1:24 into the overtime period.

The Mariners started fast, scoring three goals in the first period, the first by Travis Brown and the next two by Scott Owen.

Nikiski also netted a first-period goal by Israel Blatchford, assisted by Robert Zinck and Zach Womack, and the Bulldogs narrowed Homer's lead to a goal with a second-period tally from Mike O'Brien, assisted by Brett Allemann and Nick Russell.

Niksiki tied the game just 22 seconds into the third period with a goal from Lex Litzen, then took the lead 2:58 into the period when Womack scored, assisted by Blatchford and Paul Kendall.

Owen, assisted by Adams, completed his hat trick to even the score at 8:38 of the period, though, to send the game to overtime.

Luke Hardesty made 26 saves in goal for the Bulldogs while Ben Miller turned aside 31 shots for the Mariners.
