Greetings from Kasilof.

If you're like me, chances are you are still shoveling out from under last week's snow. Not only does nature have to dump over a foot of powder, then the temperature must obligingly drop to what else, but to zero. Thank the Lord and Fritz for our wood stove and what goes in it. I won't say "what's next?" because, I'm afraid to find out.

Parent volunteers are needed for the Skyview High School senior after-graduation party. Those interested in volunteering in any capacity are invited to attend the 6:30 p.m. meeting in the school commons. For more information, call Mary Driefuerst at 598-1023 or Dennis Smith at 262-7974.

Don't forget the Love, INC fund-raiser dinner is 6:30 p.m. Friday and if you haven't called for reservations you might want to call Love, INC. right away at 283-5252.

Be sure to catch the Kenai Performers' presentation of "Brigadoon." For more show information, call June Harris at 283-1946 or Mary Kennedy at 252-4942.

Jot this news down — Decanter Inn on Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. The evening will begin with a Chinese auction, split- the-pot and spaghetti dinner benefit for Gulf War veteran, single parent and lifelong Kasilof resident Bobby Bush. Bush is awaiting kidney and pancreas transplants and proceeds from the benefit will help with expenses incurred during his hospital stays. Donations for the auction are needed and are being accepted at the Decanter Inn up to the event time. Come out and show your support. For more information, call Bobby's sister, Karen Burger at 262-6475, Bev Toland at 262-5917 or Pete Baerresen at 262-7203.

Are you interested in finding out more about the Kenai Peninsula Borough coordinated volunteer fire department planning? Are you willing to volunteer for your Kasilof, Cohoe or Kalifornsky Beach Road areas? If you are, applications are now being accepted. Call Capt. Keith Hamilton at 398-4459 or stop by the Soldotna Central Emergency Services station on Binkley Street for more information.

Celebrating a birthday in Kasilof today is Debbie Lampton, and those having a birthday later this week are Clam Gulch residents Tristan Kruse and Carl Hatten, and Kasilof residents Evy Gebhardt, Phillip Kitchen, Marty Monsaas, Jerry Hatten and Ed Pearson Sr.

I hope you all have a great day.
