ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The state medical examiner has identified the body of a teen-age girl found in Manokotak as Roxanne N. Moore, 14, who lived in the Southwest village, Alaska State Troopers said Thursday.

Investigators are treating the girl's death as a homicide, and believe the killer probably lives in Manokotak, troopers said.

Moore's body was found in the village landfill on Monday, a week after the girl was last seen on the school bus.

The victim's body was frozen and appeared to have been ''exposed to the elements'' for several days, troopers said.

Troopers flew to Manokotak on Monday to begin their investigation.

Manokotak is a largely Yupik village 15 minutes west of Dillingham by air. If the death proves to be a homicide, it would be the first in the village in recent memory, troopers said.
