FAIRBANKS (AP) -- Two volunteer firefighters on their way to an emergency were injured Saturday after their vehicle left the roadway and rolled.

Nicholas Rich, 42, and Christopher Thomas, 27, were transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Alaska State Troopers said Rich and Thomas were driving a Steese Volunteer Fire Department vehicle on the Steese Highway near the trans-Alaska pipeline viewing area.

The emergency vehicle went off the roadway, rolled four times and came to rest upright on the shoulder.
