Health center closed today

The Kenai Public Health Center will be closed in observance of Presidents Day. It will reopen on Tuesday at 8 a.m. An immunization clinic will be from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the center. For more information, call 335-3400.

Childbirth classes offered

Central Peninsula General Hospital will offer prepared childbirth classes from Wednesday through March 24. Classes will cover issues from pregnancy through infant care. Cost is $75 and includes books. For more information or to register, call 714-4775.

Soroptimists plan board meeting

Soroptimist International of the Twin Cities will hold its board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Central Peninsula General Hospital in the Iliamna Room. Prior to the meeting, members will present David Gilbreath, the hospital's CEO, with money for the Soroptimist Cancer Fund that is administered by CPGH. Frontier Community Services to hold blood drive

The Frontier Community Services will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at its office in the Red Diamond Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road. The Blood Bank of Alaska also will be open. For more information, call Amy Jackman at 260-5672.

Master gardeners to discuss water gardens

Kearlee Ray Wright will be the featured presenter at the Central Peninsula Master Gardeners winter lecture beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Building on Kalifornsky Beach Road. His topic will be water gardens. Wright has 15 years of experience with water gardens. For more information, call 262-5824.

KPC showcase to present Irish music

The Kenai Peninsula College Showcase will present Irish Folk music with "Setanta" at 7 p.m. Friday in the commons. There is a suggested donation of $8 at the door. For more information, call Suzie Kendrick at 262-0320.

Nikiski talent show entrants sought

Nikiski Middle-Senior High School is seeking entrants for its 2004 Nikiski Talent Show on March 6. All ages and talents are encouraged to participate.
