The following list of Soldotna Community Schools classes and activities beginning this week is printed as a reminder to preregistered participants. Anyone interested in a class or activity should call the Community Schools office at 262-6768.

Tuesday

Digital Camera Basics with Tom Boedeker This class is a layman's guide to get around the jargon. It will include practical tips on editing, camera features, connections, aspect ratios, print options, resolution, memory cards and programming. The class is open to teens and adults with a five-person minimum. It will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays for two weeks in the Soldotna Middle School library. The cost is $15.

Wednesday

Pine Needle Basket with Sandra Lewis, art teacher Bring the wonderful scent of pine into your home by creating a pine needle basket. The coiling technique is used to create these baskets. Participants will learn about and complete a pine needle basket in this two-week class. Materials are covered by class fee. Outside class work will be needed to complete the basket by the end of the second class. The class is open to those 16 and older with a three-person minimum and 10-person maximum. It will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays for two weeks in Soldotna Middle School room 6. The cost is $25.

Thursday

Wedding Album Tutor with Carrie Henson, Creative Memories senior consultant Every wedding photo has a story to tell. Learn how to tell yours in an album. The class is open to those 13 and older with a two-person minimum and 12-person maximum. It will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, as well as March 4 and 18. This week's class will cover selections. On March 4, participants should bring pictures to mount. The March 18 class will cover journaling and enhancing the albums. The class meets in the Soldotna Middle School home economics room. The cost is $15, and includes supplies.

Saturday

Cajun Dinner and "Stretch the Arts" This is an auction fund-raiser to benefit the After the Bell after-school program. It will be held at Peninsula Grace Bretheran Church on Kalifornsky Beach Road. An auction item preview will begin at 5 p.m., with dinner served at 6. The call auction will start at 6:30, and there also will be bucket and silent auctions. Dinner tickets are $15 per person. Tie Dye with Joyce Cox, Girl Scout field executive Oh, the designs you will make! Participants will create a T-shirt or scarf, and should state their T-shirt size upon registration. There will be two sessions for this class: those ages 5 to 8 will meet from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and ages 9 to 17 will meet from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Each class has a 10-person minimum and 15-person maximum and will meet in the Kenai Peninsula College art room. The cost is $22 for the general public and $12 for Girl Scout members.

Sunday

Winter Family Fun Day Families are invited to a free day of cross-country skiing, sledding, ice skating, hot cocoa and a bonfire from 2 to 5 p.m. on Tsalteshi Trails at Skyview High School.
