ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A man who nearly knifed his wife and son to death was sentenced to 60 years in prison.
Timothy Wade, 34, wore a disguise while knifing his wife and son on Aug. 10, 1999. The two were stabbed more than 30 times after coming home to find Wade waiting, his face hidden behind a bandanna, to attack them.
Wade stabbed his wife repeatedly. The boy, who recognized his father, was attacked while he tried to call 911 for help. Wade then stabbed his wife again after she ran outside for help.
The boy, Camden, then 8 years old, grabbed his 19-month old sister and hid under some outside stairs until police arrived.
Wade pleaded no contest to a consolidated count of attempted murder in September.
Prosecutor Adrienne Bachman said Wade had a string of girlfriends. She said one was scheduled to arrive in Anchorage from Texas three days after the attack occurred.
Defense attorney Craig Howard argued for a sentence of no more than 40 years. He described Wade as a loving family man who just snapped.
