San Antonio sets record for wins on one road trip
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Tim Duncan had 34 points and 12 rebounds, and Emanuel Ginobili grabbed two key offensive rebounds in the final seconds as the Spurs beat the Sacramento Kings 104-101 Sunday for their eighth straight road victory -- an NBA record for one trip.
Malik Rose had 15 points and nine rebounds and hit two go-ahead free throws with 1:33 left, while Tony Parker had 18 points and seven assists as the Spurs finished the longest road trip in franchise history with eight straight wins after losing the opener at Minnesota on Jan. 27.
The Spurs have won 17 of 20 since Jan. 1, and they capped their trip with victories over the Kings and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Timberwolves 109, Warriors 102
MINNEAPOLIS -- Kevin Garnett had 37 points and 22 rebounds and Wally Szczerbiak scored 23 points as the Timberwolves tied a franchise record with their 12th consecutive home victory.
The Wolves won their sixth consecutive game and 12th in their last 14, ending the Warriors' three-game road winning streak.
Grizzlies 101, Bucks 95
MILWAUKEE -- Jason Williams scored four points in the final 72 seconds and Pau Gasol led Memphis with 19 points as the Grizzlies snapped the Bucks' three-game winning streak.
The Grizzlies won on the road for just the fourth time this season.
Ray Allen scored 23 points and Sam Cassell added 22 for Milwaukee.
Raptors 99, Magic 97
TORONTO -- Alvin Williams had 22 points, Antonio Davis scored 21 and the Toronto Raptors won for the sixth time in eight games.
Tracy McGrady scored 14 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter for the Magic, who went 0-3 on their three-game road trip.
76ers 90, Nets 83
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Allen Iverson had 32 points and five of Philadelphia's 14 steals.
Keith Van Horn got into foul trouble and scored only nine points in 26 minutes against the team he helped to reach the NBA Finals last season, but he hit a clutch baseline jumper over Jason Kidd with 63 seconds to play to give Philadelphia an 84-77 lead.
Hawks 99, Pacers 86
ATLANTA -- Jason Terry scored 16 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter to help the Atlanta Hawks end a four-game losing streak in a game that featured the ejection of Reggie Miller in the first quarter.
Glenn Robinson added 25, surpassing 13,000 in his career, as the Hawks found some good fortune after losing their previous three games by a combined five points.
Hornets 100, Nuggets 92
NEW ORLEANS -- Jamal Mashburn had 24 points and nine assists as New Orleans defeated Denver.
Mashburn scored 12 in the first quarter to help the Hornets build an early double-digit lead they held for most of the game. When Denver closed to 89-84 with 5:20 left, Mashburn hit a fadeaway off a crossover dribble, then drew a crowd inside to set up George Lynch for an open 3-pointer that made it 96-86.
All five Hornets starters scored in double figures as New Orleans ended a two-game skid and extended Denver's losing streak to five.
Suns 102, Celtics 92
PHOENIX -- Stephon Marbury had 12 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter as the Phoenix Suns pulled away over the road-weary Celtics.
Amare Stoudemire had 25 points and 17 rebounds and Shawn Marion added 22 points as the Suns snapped their two-game home losing streak and swept the Celtics for the first time in five years.
Paul Pierce had 21 points and 10 rebounds, Antoine Walker scored 16 points and Walter McCarty had 13, but they couldn't keep the Celtics from falling to 3-1 on a six-game road trip.
Knicks 117, Lakers 110
LOS ANGELES -- Allan Houston outplayed even Kobe Bryant, scoring an NBA season-high 53 points.
Houston shot 18-of-29 and made 12-of-14 attempts from the foul line as he surpassed the 51 points scored by Kobe Bryant at Denver last Wednesday night. He became the fifth player in franchise history to score 50 or more points and the first since Patrick Ewing accomplished the feat on Dec. 1, 1990.
Bryant led the Lakers in this game with 40 points -- the fifth consecutive game in which he's scored 40 or more and the ninth straight of at least 35.
The Lakers played without Shaquille O'Neal, who missed the game because of a sore left knee.
