Junior Miss applications deadline looms

The deadline for the applications for the Alaska Junior Miss program is Saturday. The program will be held in Eagle River from March 31 through April 1. Applications are available at The state chair can be e-mailed at for more information.

Seniors cooking up buffet

The Nikiski Senior Citizens Center hosts an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. The cost is $6.50; family rates are available.

SoHi after-grad committee to meet

The Soldotna High School after-graduation party committee will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the lounge. The committee needs assistance with chaperoning, planning and coordinating activities, decorations and food. Monetary donations and donations of prize items also are needed. Attendance at planning meetings is not necessary to help with this event. For more information, call 262-5447.

Genealogical society to meet

The Totem Tracers Genealogical Society will host its annual planning session at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Family History Center in Soldotna. It is open to the public. For more information, call 283-4481.

Clothing donations sought

College Heights Baptist Church is accepting donations of clothing, appliances, household furniture and other household items for those who have lost their belongs due the recent fires. Items may be dropped off from 8 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the church at 512 Ash Ave. in Kenai, or call 283-0712 or 283-3220 for pick up of larger items.
