Garyn Munn scored a game-high 23 points, 16 in the first half, in leading Cook Inlet Academy past Ninilchik, 78-70, on the final day of the Ninilchik Invitational on Saturday.
Ryan Doyle poured in 15 points, while Scott Litchfield and Shane Moffis added 14 each for the Eagles, who owned a 40-39 halftime lead before outscoring the Wolverines by 11 points in the third. Austin Vanderford paced Ninilchik with 23 points, Tyler Sutherland hit four 3-pointers and netted 22 points and Cody Presley collected 10 points. In other boys' action Saturday, the Dimond JV team knocked off Homer's JV squad, 68-50.
Ninilchik girls 46, CIA 39
Heidi Skjold netted a game-high 16 points and the Wolverines stormed back from a 12-6 first-quarter deficit en route to a victory over the visiting Eagles on the last day of the Ninilchik Invitational on Saturday.
Ashley Bartolowits added nine points for Ninilchik, which outscored Cook Inlet Academy, 40-27 over the final three quarters.
Brooke Forsi paced the Eagles with 15 points and Amie Smithwick added 11. In other girls' action, the Dimond JV team beat the West JV team, 60-12.
Ninilchik boys 61, Kenai JV 54
Presley scored 19 points, Sutherland added 17 and Vanderford 16 in leading the Wolverines past the JV Kardinals on Friday in the Ninilchik Invitational.
Jacob Bisset paced Kenai's JV team with 18 points.
Dimond JV boys 68, CIA 60
Tyler Bennett scored 22 points and Dylan Lowers collected 21 in guiding the Lynx JV squad past the Cook Inlet Academy boys in the Ninilchik Invitational on Friday.
Litchfield led the Eagles with 22 points, while Moffis and Doyle chipped in 13 apiece.
CIA girls 59, West JV 19
Smithwick poured in a game-high 17 points and Chelsea Hardcastle and Forsi each added 16 as the Eagles cruised to a victory Friday in the Ninilchik Invitational.
Dimond JV girls 57, Ninilchik 54
Trailing 17-8 after the opening eight minutes and 29-23 at halftime, the Lynx stormed back and captured a victory over the host Wolverines on Friday in the Ninilchik Invitational.
Dimond outscored Ninilchik, 15-8, in the fourth quarter en route to the win. Skjold scored 14 points for the Wolverines and Grace Ehlers added 11.
