Women's group plans brunch

The Peninsula Take A Break will hold brunch from 10 to 11:30 a.m. today at the Solid Rock Conference Center. Dan Sexton will discuss his gemstone hobby; composer Glenda Elliot will provide musical entertainment; and Anita Bacon will be the speaker. The cost is $7 for brunch, and free child care is provided. Road service subcommittee to meet

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Road Service Subcommittee will meet at 4 p.m. today in the conference room in the borough maintenance building at 47140 E. Poppy Lane. The topics of discussion are the proposed fiscal year 2005 budget, proposed fiscal year 2005 CIPs and policy development for paving borough collector roads. The public is invited to attend. Public comment will not be taken.

Health center plans board meeting

The Central Peninsula Health Centers Inc. will hold a continuation of its annual board meeting at 5:30 p.m. today at the Family Center at 120 N. Willow St. in Kenai. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call 335-2022 or e-mail

Parents support group to meet

Peninsula Parents Anonymous will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday at Bridges Community Center. There is no fee. A free meal and children's program is provided. The group was started to give parents a safe and supportive place to meet.

Master gardening class slated

The University of Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service, Kenai Peninsula District, is offering a master gardening class Feb. 25 in the Kenai-Soldotna area. The class is for beginners and advanced gardeners to learn master gardening techniques. There is no fee. For more information, the location and time, call 262-5824.

WRCC to hold board meeting

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center will hold its monthly board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at 325 S. Spruce St. in Kenai. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call 283-9479.

Charter school enrollment lottery planned

The Aurora Borealis Charter School will conduct an enrollment lottery April 14. Applications and copies of the enrollment and lottery procedures are available at the ABCS office from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. All applications must be delivered in person to the office no later than 3 p.m. March 10. Lottery results will be posted at ABCS on April 22.

If your child has a lottery number, you do not need to go through the process again. Parents with a lottery number who no longer want to be on the waiting list are asked to call the office. For more information, call Debbie Palm between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.
