Students in grades three through six will take Terra Nova and Alaska Benchmark tests through Friday.

There will be a K-Beach community meeting at 2:45 p.m. today in the library to discuss the 21st Century Learning grant.

Eddie Woods will start his Artist in Schools residency at K-Beach on Monday.

Mr. Faris' third-grade class is celebrating Love of Reading Month and had a read-in. Kids brought lots of their favorite books, there were guest readers and everyone had fun lounging and reading. They brought in sleeping bags, pillows and stuffed animals and wore their pajamas. It was a nice way to wind down after practicing for Benchmarks.

Monday was the 100th day of school. First-grade students had a fun time reading a "100 Things" poem, counting by 10s to 100 with Fruit Loops and wearing their 100 glasses. They still are working on the research for their transportation unit.

Valentine centers were Thursday, and cards were opened in the afternoon. The students had a great time sharing with each other. In math, they used dimes and pennies to add double-digit numbers and continued fact tests subtracting two and adding two.

Parents are reminded to check the papers that come home and provide extra practice if their child needs it.
