Congratulations to fifth- and sixth-grade Battle of the Books team members DeAnne Martin, Quinn Sawyer and Olivia Bowen, as well as coach Natalie Kant, for a third-place finish in the district competition. Congratulations also to the seventh- and eighth-grade team, Lars Arneson, Cassie Kendall, Bryson Winslow, coach Tanya Boedeker and timer Janet Arneson for taking fifth-sixth place.

The Math Counts team competed last weekend in Anchorage, sharpening their math skills. Participants included Rosemarie O'Lena, Cody Dutcher, Robert Herr and Andrew Bosela.

The spelling bee will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Borough Building. The bee is open to any home-school student in grades three through eight. Contact the Connections office if interested in participation. Following the bee, there will be a presentation by students of their educational experience touring the United States this past fall.

The Alaska SeaLife Center will sponsor a home-school day titled "Sea Searchers," from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 28 and March 3. For more information, call (800) 224-2525, ext. 6306.

The Scholastic Book Fair will continue at the Connections office today and Thursday.
