Poetry contest slated

The Christian Fine Arts Society is offering at $1,000 grand prize in a religious poetry contest.

The deadline to enter is Feb. 26. Poems are to be 21 lines or less, and name and address should appear on the page with the poem.

Church changes meeting place

The Peninsula New Testament Church will meet at 9:45 a.m. at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road through March. It is open to the public. The church is sponsored by the American Baptist Association.

MOMS to meet

Ministry of Mothers Sharing will hold its spring session from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays for the next seven weeks at Our Lady of Perpetual

Help Catholic Church in Soldotna. It is open to all mothers.

Youth seeking funds for hungry

Nikiski youth Bible study group Crosseyed is seeking donations for its 30-hour famine fund-raiser Feb. 25 and 26. The group will go without food for 30 hours to highlight the plight of less advantaged children. All proceeds will go to World Vision, a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty.

Church production slated

Reality Outreach will be in Nikiski to put on the production "Heavens Gates Hells Flames." Performances will be March 20 through 22.

Donations to support the production may be made to Lighthouse Community Church, Attn. Heavens Gates, P.O. Box 7496, Nikiski, AK 99635.

The production is being sponsored by Lighthouse Community Church, as well as First Baptist Church of Port Nikiski, Inlet Faith, North Kenai Chapel, New Hope Fellowship, North Star Methodist and Mount Redoubt Baptist churches.

Addictions group meeting slated

Reformers Unanimous, a national Christ-centered addictions program has formed a chapter in Kenai. It meets from 7 to 9 p.m. on Fridays at the Immanuel Baptist Church. Also being offered is "Kids RU" a children's program that teaches children of Reformers Unanimous participants how to avoid addictions. For more information on either program, call 283-9361.
