Seward shocks Grace

Trailing by four after three quarters, Seward outscored Grace Christian, 16-11, in the final eight minutes in edging the top-ranked boys team in Class 3A, 57-56, in Seward on Saturday.

Caleb Adelmann led the Seahawks with 22 points and Robert Perea netted 11.

Leif Karlberg scored a team-high 22 points for the Grizzlies, who were only 2-of-2 from the charity stripe for the entire game. Kellen Moll added 17 points for Grace.

Grace Christian girls 46, Seward 35

Marjie Dupea and Rosie Berg scored 12 points apiece in leading the Grizzlies past the Seahawks on Saturday.

Denali Foldager netted a team-high 11 points for Seward.

CIA boys 72, Susitna Valley 66

Scott Litchfield scored 27 points and Ryan Doyle added 25 as the visiting Eagles topped the Rams on Saturday.

Garyn Munn chipped in 15 points for CIA.

Mac Stevens collected a team-high 18 points for the Rams, while Colin Olner and Travis Clark netted 12 apiece and Marc Bartel had 10.

CIA girls 56, Susitna Valley 29

The Eagles led 26-14 at halftime and never looked back in topping the Rams on Saturday.

Melissa Moffis led all scorers with 22 points for CIA and Brooke Forsi netted 16 points.

Amber Wigen and Sara Bartel each collected 10 points for Su Valley.

Ninilchik boys 64, Seldovia 46

A 22-point second quarter propelled the visiting Wolverines past the Sea Otters on Saturday.

Cody Presley and Tyler Sutherland paced Ninilchik with 22 and 19 points, respectively. KC Chissus led the Sea Otters with 11 points.

Ninilchik girls 50, Seldovia 37

The visiting Wolverines took their second game in as many days over the Sea Otters on Saturday.

Lindsay Schnabl and Heidi Skjold scored 12 points apiece for Ninilchik, while Lindsey Rohr added 11. Courtney Collier paced Seldovia with 13 points.

Nikiski girls 46, Grace Christian 26

The host Bulldogs, the top-ranked team in Class 3A, topped the Grizzlies on Friday in Southcentral Conference action to improve to 16-2 overall and 7-1 in the conference.

Hannah Thompson paced Nikiski with 17 points.

She was 3-for-5 from 3-point range and had six steals. Kyla Jorgensen had nine rebounds to lead Nikiski.

Grace boys 63, Nikiski 19

The visiting Grizzlies received 23 points from Leif Karlberg and 13 points from Lou Karlberg in picking up a Southcentral Conference victory on Friday.

Kenny Fagan paced Nikiski with eight points.

Ninilchik boys 49, Seldovia 48

The visiting Wolverines nipped the Sea Otters on Friday in Peninsula Conference action.

Ninilchik, which made seven 3-pointers in the game, was led by Austin Vanderford’s 18 points. Brandon Nobles chipped in 12 for the Wolverines. For the Sea Otters, Matthew Gain had 14 points and Levi Harkness added 10 points.

Ninilchik girls 58, Seldovia 53

The visiting Wolverines held off the Sea Otters on Friday in Peninsula Conference action.

Ninilchik took a 16-4 lead after one period and had a 47-36 advantage heading into the final period before Seldovia closed the gap.

Krista Leman, Kayleigh Rice and Lindsay Rohr each had 14 points for Ninilchik. Seldovia’s Jennifer Giles led all scorers with 19 points, while Tatiana Gruber had 18 points and Naomi Gallien had 10 points.

CIA boys 65, Lumen Christi 32

The visiting Eagles notched a Peninsula Conference victory on Friday in Anchorage behind 16 points from Shane Moffis and 12 from Litchfield.

Also for the Eagles, John Forsi had nine, Doyle had eight, Aaron Rowley had six, Munn and Nathan Larson had four apiece and Dalton Johnson and Eric Bell had three apiece. Nathan Fisk paced Lumen Christi with 13 points.

CIA girls 61, Lumen Christi 27

The visiting Eagles cruised to a Peninsula Conference victory on Friday in Anchorage behind 22 points from Moffis, 15 points from Amie Smithwick and 14 points from Forsi. Chelsea Hardcastle added six for CIA while Holly Kopp had four.

Heritage boys 46, Seward 42

Andrew Miessner scored 18 points to lead the visiting Eagles past the Seahawks on Friday night.

Caleb Adelmann paced Seward with 19 points while Brandon O’Brikis netted 12.
