Mucha, Hall win Borough Sprints

Soldotna’s Kailey Mucha and Kenai’s Chris Hall each won the Second Annual Borough Sprint Championships on Saturday at Tsalteshi Trails.

Skyview’s Kendra Merkes placed second, Kenai’s Molly Watkins finished third, Skyview’s Heather Roesing came in fourth and Soldotna’s Amanda Smith and Jasmine Clock placed fifth and sixth, respectively.

On the boys side, Cook Inlet Academy’s Lars Arneson placed second, Skyview’s Taylor Karnikis, Lucas Thein and Erick Romig finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, and Soldotna’s Eddie French came in sixth.

Soldotna’s Bree Mucha and Intimayo Harbison won the girls and boys middle school races, respectively.

Soldotna’s Maranda Merkes placed second in the middle school race, Homer’s Maggie Bursch took third, Seward’s McKenzie Barnwell finished fourth and Soldotna’s Deanne Martin placed fifth.

In the boys middle school race, Kenai’s Travis Semmens finished second, Homer’s Kevin Rowe placed third, Seward’s Brett Chase took fourth and Soldotna’s Brayden Holt finished fifth.
