ANCHORAGE (AP) -- An Anchorage man was killed early Sunday after driving his vehicle through a red light and striking a dump truck.
Nino Davenport, 19, suffered massive head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Anchorage Police said.
The accident occurred as Davenport headed west on Fireweed Lane in his Chevy Blazer at about 3:30 a.m. Witnesses said Davenport stuck a dump truck that was northound on A St.
An exterior fuel tank on the truck's passenger burst into flames after the collision. The truck driver and witnesses used fire extinguishers to put out the flames.
A passenger in Davenport's car, Laurence Ward, 25, was taken to Alaska Regional Hospital where he was treated for lacerations to his head.
The driver of the dump truck, Terry Magray, 36, suffered minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
