Two Alaskans compete

Posted: Tuesday, February 19, 2002

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Two Alaskans competed Monday in team events at the Winter Games in Utah.

Anchorage ski jumper Alan Alborn took his last jump in team ski jumping Monday morning. He and his American teammates finished 11th out of 13 teams.

Also Monday morning, Rachel Steer of Anchorage had her last race -- in the women's 30-kilometer biathlon relay. On Saturday, Steer was forced out of the biathlon pursuit.

In Monday' event, Steer and her U.S. teammates ended a disappointing Olympics by finishing last among the 15-team field.
