Health centers meeting today

The Central Peninsula Health Centers will hold its regular meeting today at 5:30 p.m. at Bridges in Soldotna. The public is welcome to attend. For more information, call 262-4120 or 262-3119.

AARP to meet

Nonprofit training session offered

The Foraker Group will offer a training seminar on enhancing the level of performance of nonprofit board of directors Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. For more information or to register, call Karma at (907) 263-2092.

KRSMA board to meet

The Kenai River Special Management Area advisory board will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kenai River Center. Agenda topics include Riverquest RV Park subdivision, Phase II of the boat wake study, Kenai River guide moratorium, Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities Soldotna bridge and a Milepost 45 update. Blood drive Saturday

A blood drive will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Mall. For more information, call 260-5672.

Safety course offered

The American Red Cross will offer a health and safety instructors' class Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Building in Soldotna. The course will include first aid, adult, infant and child CPR and AED training. Cost is $275. For more information or to register, call 283-4541.

College to hold garage sale

Kenai Peninsula College student union will host a Mardi Gras garage sale carnival in the KPC commons from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday. Tables can be rented for $15 at the KPC bookstore, and items can be donated to the KPC fund-raiser table. For more information, contact the student union at 262-0339.

Lip sync contest planned

Applications for the 2003 Soldotna Community Schools Showin' Off the Kids lip sync and choreography contest are available at area elementary and middle schools. Applications, along with a two-minute music tape, must be returned to Dairy Queen in Soldotna by March 1. The contest will be held March 15. For more information, call 262-6768.

Tea party to honor 'Women of Seward'

The Pioneers of Alaska in Seward will sponsor a "Women of Seward" tea party from 2 to 4 p.m. March 9 at the Seward Elks club. Special acknowledgements will be given to women who have resided in Seward for 50 or more years. The party is part of the year-long celebration of the town's centennial.

The public is welcome to attend the tea party, and those with roots in Seward are especially encouraged to attend. For more information, call the Pioneers of Alaska at (907) 224-8770.

Applications for visitor services available

Applications for conducting commercial visitor services on the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge are available at refuge headquarters. A special use permit is required for conducting any commercial visitor services on refuge lands and waters. New applications will be accepted until April 1. Multiyear permit holders must update relevant information before seasonal activities begin, or by June 1. For more information, call 262-7021.
