Andrew 'Andy' Donald Reid
Soldotna resident Andrew “Andy” Donald Reid died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, of a long illness in his home. He was 31.
Funeral services were held in the village of Port Heiden on Sunday, Feb. 12, with his father, Archie Reid, officiating. Burial was in Port Heiden, next to his mother, Glenda Reid.
Mr. Reid was born Sept. 1, 1975 in Dillingham.
He attended school in Port Heiden and Kenai. He worked for a while as a commercial fisherman in Bristol Bay.
Mr. Reid enjoyed playing guitar, writing songs and entertaining, especially at dances held at the Nakenu Family Center, where he had many friends.
“He loved being with his family the most. They meant everything to him. Above all the most important thing in his life was to live for the Lord. He had a very deep faith. He felt blessed that he came from a very large family,” his family wrote.
“He will be missed by his family and friends very much and will always live in our hearts. He always had a smile whenever he was with his family and friends.”
He was preceded in death by his mother, Glenda Reid; grandmother, Lena Matson; uncles, Jason Reid, Elliot Reid and Ken Marquis; aunt, Laura Christensen; and cousin, Lisa Havilland.
Survivors include his father, Archie Reid; stepmother, Carla Reid; brothers, Justin, David, Shawn, Shane and Michael; sister, Wanda; and grandfather, Andrew Matson, all of Port Heiden; sister, Denise Reid of Anchorage; grandparents, Donald and Mary Reid of Soldotna; cousin, Toni DeMello; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
