Nikiski girls stay unbeaten in conference

The Nikiski girls remained undefeated in the Southcentral Conference while improving to 8-0 and 15-3 overall with a 57-33 win against Anchorage Christian Schools Saturday at ACS.

Sasha Auldridge scored 16 points, including three 3-pointers for Nikiski. Becca Carlson added 15 points and Sarah Herrin scored 13 points.

ACS boys 81, Nikiski 49

The ACS boys picked up a Southcentral Conference win against the visiting Bulldogs of Nikiski Saturday at ACS.

Nikiski’s Rick Miller scored 18 points in the loss, while Chad Dyson poured in 28 points to lead ACS.

Wasilla boys 55, Kenai 42

The host Warriors registered a Northern Lights Conference victory over the Kardinals Saturday behind 19 points from Jesse Bean and 15 points from Brad Hobbs.

Kevin Epperheimer had 11 points for Kenai, while Casey Ellis pitched in 10.

Wasilla girls 53, Kenai 27

The host Warriors picked up a Northern Lights Conference victory Saturday over the Kardinals.

Wasilla led 21-18 at the half, then had a 23-3 run in the third quarter. Wasilla’s Ashley Semler scored 12 of her game-high 15 points during that span.

Nikiski girls 60, Houston 36

The visiting Bulldogs received 30 points from Sarah Herrin on Friday in picking up a Southcentral Conference victory. With the win, Nikiski improved to 7-0 in the conference and 14-3 overall.

Stacey Griffel added 11 points in the victory, while Hannah Thompson pitched in 10 points.

“The girls played well all-around,” Nikiski coach Ward Romans said. “They rebounded well, and played really well defensively.”

Houston boys 56, Nikiski 24

The host Hawks notched a Southcentral Conference victory Friday night. Justin Vance paced the Bulldogs with 11 points, while Jesse Cook had 11 rebounds.

Ketchikan boys 68, Homer 65

The visiting Kings held on for a nonconference victory Friday by using balanced scoring.

Matt Boyd paced Ketchikan with 18 points, while Thomas Montgomery had 14 points, Mike Bruce had 13 points, Beau Poppen had 12 points and Weston Corporon had 11 points.

For Homer, Luke Gilbert had a game-high 25 points while Justin Smith added 15 points.

Homer girls 55, Ketchikan 41

The host Mariners picked up a nonconference victory Friday against the Kings, getting a game-high 23 points from Allison Horazdovsky.

Reba Temple added 15 points for Homer, while Kalli Kline had 13 points for Ketchikan.

Grace Christian boys 54, Kenai 52

The host Grizzlies picked up a nonconference victory Friday behind Kellan Moll’s 22 points and Ben Boerger’s 12 points.

Kevin Epperheimer paced Kenai with 15 points, while Nate Saltzgiver added 11 points.
