One submission for commissioner not right

Letter to the Editor

Surely it is illegal for the joint boards of Fish and Game to submit a list of one to the governor for the position of commissioner of Fish and Game.

By law, the joint boards are supposed to submit a list of names to the governor from which she chooses one to be commissioner. By submitting a list of only one, the boards in effect chose the commissioner instead of the governor.

Since the present boards of Fish and Game are former Gov. Frank Murkowski’s appointments, it seems he has the last word in this matter. We shall see how Gov. Sarah Palin deals with this twisted process.

This may be another test of following the Constitution. I hope she passes it.
