Kenai library honored

The Kenai Community Library won the Public Library Association’s EBSCO Excellence in Small and/or Rural Public Library Service Award for 2007.

The award recognizes a public library serving a population of 10,000 or less that demonstrates excellence of service to its community by any of the following measures: uniqueness of service or program; impact of program/ service upon community; or how the service/program will affect the future of the library and its community.

The library and other winners will be honored June 25 at the 2007 ALA Annual Conference in Washington, D.C.

League of Women Voters celebrates milestone

The Central Peninsula League of Women Voters in Soldotna and Kenai is celebrating the league’s 87th birthday of safeguarding democracy. The League of Women Voters celebrated its birthday Feb. 14.

The league is a nonpartisan political organization.
