CIA girls edge Seward

Behind a game-high 17 points from Brooke Forsi and nine from Amie Smithwick, the Cook Inlet Academy girls knocked off visiting Seward, 36-29, on Monday in non-conference action.

Rubye Foldager paced the Seahawks with 12 points, while Aubrey Stone added eight.

Ninilchik splits with Bristol Bay

Grace Ehlers scored a game-high 23 points, Ashley Bartolowits added 15 and Lindsey Rohr collected 11 in leading the Wolverines past visiting Bristol Bay, 73-33, on Monday. Heidi Skjold also netted 10 points for Ninilchik, which led 33-14 at halftime.

Behind a game-high 32 points from Mason King, the Bristol Bay boys edged the Wolverines, 79-66. Tyler Sutherland paced Ninilchik with 29 points, while Austin Vanderford chipped in 23.

SoHi sweeps borough meet

The Soldotna boys and girls cross-country skiing teams both claimed titles at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Ski Meet on Saturday at the Mile 12 course in Seward. The girls finished in 1:19:54, ahead of second-place Homer (1:22.57), Kenai (1:25.13), Seward (1:28.41) and Skyview (1:44.57). The SoHi boys won in 1:12.46, barely ahead of Skyview (1:12.52), Homer (1:13.24), Seward (1:16.17) and Kenai (1:19.52). Soldotna's Kailey Mucha claimed the individual girls title, finishing in 18 minutes, 37.2 seconds, ahead of teammate Jasmine Clock (19:23.2), Homer's Claire Laukitis (19:50.1) and Kenai's Molly Watkins (19:52) and Becca Ford (20:04). Skyview's Tommy Honer captured the boys' title in 16:49, just ahead of second-place finisher Lars Arneson (16:54), of Cook Inlet Academy, Homer's Will Anderson (17:35), Skyview's Hunter Jackinsky (17:39) and Soldotna's Aaron Chase (17:43).
