Nikiski beats Su Valley in triple-overtime thriller

The Nikiski Bulldogs pulled through a triple-overtime thriller against the Susitna Valley Rams, winning 88-85 Saturday.

Nikiski's Jamie Queen and Su Valley's Jeremiah Moore tied for the game lead at 23 points apiece.

Foul shooting made the difference in the game. The Bulldogs went 22-for-28 from the free-thow line, while the Rams only got 27 of their 40 opportunities.

The Stars ran into a wall in Kodiak in a Region III/4A game.

Big man Nick Billings netted 14 points for the Bears to lead all scorers while Paul John Zobeck paced Soldotna with 10 points.

Hillary Zobeck scored eight of her game-high 26 points for the Stars in the second quarter as Soldotna surged to a Region III/4A win.

The Stars outscored the Bears 19-7 in the second quarter. Jenny Carpenter scored six points during the run while Sam Penner chipped in with four of her five points.

Seward spread the scoring around in the win over the Rams.

Ryan Lewis led all scorers with 17 points and all but one of his teammates contributed to the victory.

Clint Draper and Brian Blankenship each added 16 points and John Hamilton put in 15.

The Hawks went 10-for-12 from the foul line and got four treys -- two by Lewis and one each from Draper and Devon Loomis.
