2001 RECORD: One victory, six top-fives and 10 top-10s to finish 14th in the NASCAR Win ston Cup Series championship.

CAREER RECORD: Three wins, 24 top-fives, 53 top-10s and $12,606,942 in winnings.

PERSONAL NOTES: Garnered the biggest victory of his career at the Daytona 500 ... The car raced at Daytona in 2000 as a Pontiac, then it was converted to a Dodge Intrepid in 2001. It was damaged in crashes in the Daytona 500 and the Winston 500 at the Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway in Oct ober before being rebuilt for the fourth time. Now the car will sit in Daytona USA for the next year, forcing him to build a new car for Talladega and Daytona.

OLD HABIT: Despite his management role, he still changes tires during pit stops. ''It's my relief,'' he said.

CAREER TWISTS: Was a semi-professional bowler, but decided to concentrate on racing ... Also was part of a deal with car owner Harry Ranier and a young, unknown driver named Tony Stewart in 1996, but Stewart backed out to take a ride with Joe Gibbs Racing.
