A man who allegedly shot his neighbor through the wall of his apartment in Kasilof claimed to be in the grip of a nightmare when he awakened early Sunday morning to fire his handgun.
William Fletcher, 47, of Kasilof, is an ex-Navy Seal and Vietnam veteran.
"He awoke to the sound of gunfire," said Tim DeSpain, spokesperson for the Alaska State Troopers. "At least, that was what he thought. Everything he said checks out."
DeSpain said no charges had been preferred as of Tuesday afternoon, but it is possible that Fletcher will be charged with reckless endangerment.
The 18-year-old victim, whose name was not released, was taken to Central Peninsula General Hospital for treatment. The victim's condition was not available.
