Disabled veterans to meet

Disabled American Veterans Chapter 5 will meet today at 6 p.m. at the old Napa building on the Kenai Spur Highway in Kenai. For more information, call Glenn at 283-4359.

Builders to host speaker today

The Kenai Peninsula Builders Association will meet today at 6:30 p.m. at the Golden International Restaurant in Soldotna. Guest speaker will be Charlie Pierce of Enstar. For more information, call 283-8071.

Sterling fun day meeting planned

The Sterling Community Club will meet today at 7:30 p.m. at the log cabin at the corner of the Sterling Highway and Swanson River Road to discuss Saturday's Sterling Winter Fun Day.

The Winter Fun Day will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. at the cabin. Fireworks, a bonfire, outdoor games, food and prizes are planned. For more information, call 262-6808 or 262-5409.

Canine Good Citizen class offered

Peninsula Dog Obedience Group will offer a Canine Good Citizen course beginning Saturday at 10 a.m. It is an eight-week class and designed to teach skills on passing the Canine Good Citizen test, which will be held on the last day of class.

The purpose of the CGC test is to ensure that a dog can be a respected member of the community because it is trained and conditioned to act mannerly in the home, public places and in the presence of other dogs. The program is open to both purebred and mixed breeds. The test is not a competition and does not require you and your dog perform with precision.

Sewing group to meet

Sew Saturday will be held March 1 from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. Anyone wishing to participate must reserve a spot by sending a check for $15 to Jane Kaiser, Box 1855 in Kenai by Feb. 26. For more information, call 262-4142 or 283-3041.

CIRCAC board meeting planned

The Cook Inlet Regional Citizens Advisory Council board of directors will meet at 9 a.m. Feb. 28 at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture building in Kenai. For more information, call 283-7222.

Peace vigil to be held

A candlelight vigil for peace will be held 7 p.m. Sunday at Soldotna United Methodist Church on Binkley Street in Soldotna. For more information, call 262-4657.
