Soldotna chamber plans awards banquet

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual awards banquet Feb. 28 at the Soldotna Elks Lodge. Appetizers and no-host bar begin at 6:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Debbie Wells and Robyn Sullens. R.S.V.P. by today. Tickets are $25. Sterling fun day to be held Saturday

After the Bell to hold fund-raiser

The After the Bell program will hold "Stretching the Arts," a Cajun dinner and auction at 6 p.m. Saturday at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church on Kalifornsky Beach Road. Young Marines to hold boot camp

Boys and Girls Club to host talent show

The Boys and Girls Club in Kenai will host the "Share the Vision" Talent Show at 5 p.m. Saturday in the gym at the club. All types of entertainers will perform. Admission is free, but donations will be taken at the door. For more information, call Kimberli Dent at 283-2682.

CTSO conference planned

The Kenai Peninsula School District's Career and Technical Student Organization district conference will be held from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Feb. 28 at Kenai Peninsula College.

The keynote speaker will be Nelson Amen of Tesoro. Workshops and student competitions will be held. To volunteer as a judge for the competitions, call Walt Ward at 283-4948.

KWF seeks photographs

The Kenai Watershed Forum is soliciting entries for "The Many Landscapes of the Kenai Watershed -- Micro to Macro," a juried art exhibit and contest.

Bridge work session planned

The Alaska Department of Transportation will hold a work session on the Soldotna bridge project March 12 from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Soldotna Sports Center.

Concept drawings, landscaping plans and other information will be available.

Food bank competition planned

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank will hold its annual CANstruction competition next month.

Individuals, businesses and organizations are invited to create sculptures out of canned foods March 8 and 9 at the Peninsula Center Mall. For more information, call 262-3111.

Blood bank facing shortage

The Blood Bank of Alaska has a critical shortage of O-negative and B-positive blood types. The blood bank is located upstairs in the Blazy Mall in Soldotna and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. For more information, call 260-5672.
