A very talented group of young folks recently performed at “Showin’ Off the Kids,” a lip-synching and choreography contest sponsored by Soldotna Community Schools. The participants, Kindergarten through Eighth grade, entertained the audience with their dynamic performances.
This fun filled evening would not be possible without the contributions made by our wonderful sponsors: KSRM Radio Group, First National Bank Alaska, Wells Fargo Bank Alaska, Mike Silba of The Music Box and the Soldotna Dairy Queen. Thank you for providing advertising, prizes and a lot of support.
The participants and audience were having a great time, but the judges definitely had their work cut out for them the difficult task of choosing winners in each category. It is tough when every performance is so good. Special thanks to these hardy souls: Bob Lindstrom of First National Bank Alaska, Becky Sanford of Wells Fargo Bank Alaska, Carey Hart of Freedom Realty, Kim Coreson of Savers Digital Archiving, Dustin Miller of Soldotna High School Swing Choir and Joe Rogers of Southcentral Title Agency, who served as tally judge. Debbie Wik was the program announcer and kept the show rockin’ and rollin’.
Behind the scenes the show was running smoothly, thanks to our wonderful volunteers: Judy Imholte, Ken Lancaster, Kristina Rogers, and our two Cook Inlet Academy NHS volunteers, Jake Zufelt and Stephanie McNutt. Each volunteer worked hard and was instrumental to the success of the show. We truly appreciate the support and energy of these community members and high school students. A special thanks also goes out to the parents of the contestants who make a point of supporting our youth activities with their attendance. Thanks to all.
