Nikiski resident attending mission training

Lake Nash has been called to serve a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Las Vegas mission. Nash entered the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah, Wednesday for orientation and will spend the remainder of the two years in service to the church.

Nash is the son of Lee and Ann Nash of Nikiski and a member of the Kenai LDS Ward. His brothers George and Chesney served missions for the church; brother Nathan currently is serving a mission.

Men's fellowship dinner planned today

The North Kenai Chapel will host a men's fellowship dinner today at 6:30 p.m. There is no cost. For more information, call Frank at 252-6058.

Bishop to speak this weekend

Bishop Samuel Smith will be the guest speaker at the Upper Room Ministries Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. Smith is the senior pastor of Evangel Temple in Evansville, Ind. He is serving his fourth three-year term as general chair of the Apostolic World Christian Fellowship.

Open house slated at Bible chapel

Soldotna Bible Chapel on the corner of Kobuk and Marydale will dedicate its new building with a special worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday with guest speaker Bob Logan from the Dallas area.

There also will be a service at 6 p.m. with an open house following. These services will replace the usual Sunday services and are open to the community. For more information, call 262-4865.

Devotional gathering planned

An interfaith devotional gathering will be held at the Baha'i Center on Knight Drive in Soldotna Sunday at 2 p.m. The public is invited to share holy writings or prayers on the theme of unity. Fellowship and refreshments will follow. For more information, contact Debbie or Curt Shuey at 283-6650.

Women's Bible study to start in March

The Kenai Christian Church Women's Ministry is offering a women's Bible study, "Conversation Peace." The seven-week study begins March 6 at 7 p.m. The cost of the workbook is $18. Children's Bible classes are available. For more information or to preregister by Feb. 25, call 283-7403.
