Safari activities set

The Kenai Peninsula Chapter of Safari Club International has planned the following activities:

· Today — The annual election meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Aspen Hotel in Soldotna. Election of officers and a drawing for a Ruger 10/22 rifle for members who’s dues are paid prior to the drawing. Ken Felche will be the guest speaker. His topic will be a slide show on Iraq and his participation in the SCI program A.W.L.S.

· March 6 — Business meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Don Jose’s in Soldotna.

· April 21 — The annual fundraiser dinner will be held at the Soldotna Sports Center. Tickets are available. Biweekly fundraiser committee meetings are being held. For more information, call Dennis LaRoche at 262-0478.

Little League registration begins

Registration for Soldotna Little League will be held at the Soldotna Little League Bingo Hall by Sal’s Diner on the following dates: from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and March 1, 6, 7, 8,12, 13, 20, 21 and 22; and from noon to 5 p.m. March 17 and 24. Registration fees are tee ball and coach pitch $40 and minors through high school $50.

CPCS board to meet

The Central Peninsula Counseling Services board of directors will meet at 5:30 pm Tuesday at 506 Lake Street in Kenai. For more information, call 260-3691.

Youth Court offered

Kenai Peninsula Youth Court will hold weekly classes for new Youth Court attorneys from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays at the Old Kenai Courthouse. Classes are offered free to students in grades seven and up through high school. Classes will end May 1.

Influenza, pandemic response to be discussed

Alaska Public Health Laboratory, presents a free community session on Alaska’s influenza surveillance and pandemic response planning at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenai Peninsula College. Dr. Lynn Lucher, coordinator of the Special Pathogens Branch of the Alaska Public Health Laboratory will be the featured speaker.

This is the opportunity for the public to participate in the Alaska Department of Health training that is being given throughout the state. There will be a question and answer Session after the talk.

Swim lessons offered in Nikiski

Nikiski Pool will hold semi-private swim lessons March 6 through 16. Registration ends March 5 or until classes are filled. For more information, call Nigel At 776-8800.

Asperger’s syndrome meeting slated

An An informative meeting to learn more about Asperger’s Syndrome, a social disorder that makes it difficult to function in social areas, will be held at 6 p.m. March 5 at Kenai Public Health.

Mother, daughter tea poised
