bare winter larch

limbs sporting hoar frost finery

minimal beauty

sparkling diamonds

scattered across the snow drifts

full moon winter night

fodder for the owl

a dark spot on moonlit crust

scampers to its death

winter’s casteism

eagles picking carrion

reduced in stature

crystalline flowers

branches of brittle blossoms

the ice fog garden
